CM Punk has made multiple trips to the WWE Performance Center and NXT since he returned to WWE at Survivor Series 2023, whether it's been to rehab from injury or appear on television. Punk is set to serve as the special guest referee for the NXT Title bout between Trick Williams and Ethan Page on the October 1st episode of NXT.

CM Punk appeared on the September 24 episode of WWE NXT. In a backstage segment, Punk could be seen speaking with Je’Von Evans. Trick Williams approached Punk and spoke about the upcoming NXT Championship match where he will challenge Ethan Page for the gold.

NXT looked to build on the explosive fallout from No Mercy. Trick Williams was able to overcome Pete Dunne and earn another shot at NXT champion Ethan Page, while Giulia sent a warning shot to Roxanne Perez. TNA had a presence on the show, as Hammerstone and Rosemary made appearances.
