An Israeli strike on a building in central Beirut on Sunday killed Hezbollah's media relations chief Mohammad Afif, two Lebanese security sources told Reuters, though there was no immediate confirmation from Hezbollah.

Afif, who was Hizbollah’s chief spokesperson, is the latest senior figure to be killed by Israel in a campaign that also claimed the life of its leader Hassan Nasrallah in September.

The attack came as Israel’s military has been pounding an area just outside the Lebanese capital with some of the heaviest waves of bombardment in months.
