A Texas state trooper was airlifted to a Lubbock hospital with serious injuries after he was hit by a car on duty on Sept. 17 in Ector County, the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal previously reported. At the time, the trooper's name was not released; however, the Texas DPS Officers Association has identified the trooper as Kevin Ramirez Vasquez.

Trooper Kevin Ramirez Vasquez died Saturday afternoon after investigating a civilian car crash along with the Ector County Sheriff's department. Vasquez was struck by another vehicle traveling down the highway while investigating the crash on September 17th.
