People in Senegal are voting in a parliamentary election that will decide whether the country’s president will be able to carry out ambitious reforms, six months after he was voted in on an anti-establishment platform.

Senegal saw some of the worst political violence in recent history ahead of its presidential election in March.

Senegal's President Bassirou Diomaye Faye called the early elections hoping to pave the way towards major reforms pledged during his election campaign earlier this year.
